Giedo Van der Garde closed the gap between himself and FF2M championship leader Paul Di Resta to 9 points as he claimed pole position for the feature race of the final round of the season in Long Beach yesterday.
The Dutchman lapped a tenth of a second quicker than Spaniel’s Valtteri Bottas who lines up alongside him on the front row. Other championship challengers Paul Di Resta and Charles Pic start 9th and 15th respectively, whilst not claiming pole position officially rules Kevin Magnussen, who starts 11th, and Bottas out of the championship hunt with both having needed to score maximum points this weekend to claim the crown.
