AFIA releases 2017 rule changes

A new Sunday morning warm up session, car concepts and engine manufacturer rules were part of the 2017 FF1M rule change package which was revealed to teams yesterday evening.

FF1M bosses were keen to introduce the new Sunday Warm Up as they feel that the Saturday, Qualifying focused, Practice Session has been a success, and felt that a Race focused session would “facilitate different performance levels between Qualifying and the Race”.

As part of the changes, a curfew has been introduced and may be broken four times per season. If broken teams can swap their qualifying set up for a race set up thereby gaining the best performance in both sessions.

Other changes include a sliding limit on the amount of teams that an Engine manufacturer can supply and aerodynamic budget changes.
