At the World Fantasy Motorsport Commission prizegiving gala in Dubai last night the AFIA confirmed the calendars for the 2017 Fantasy Motorsport season including the FF1M calendar for the 2017 season.
Of interest, not least because of the location of the gala, was that Bahrain’s round of the 2017 season, which was originally the eighteenth round of the campaign as it was in 2016, has been dropped leaving an 18 round calendar concluding in Macau for the second time. No reason has been given for the removal of Bahrain although both FF1M and FF2M Asia events at the circuit this season were chaotic affairs. Bahrain however will remain the sole pre-season testing venue for 2017.
The Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos, which had previously been earmarked for an April date, has been moved back to the first week of November to fill the gap left by Bahrain’s exclusion and the April FFeM round at Interlagos will move to the shorter Curitiba circuit alongside FF4M Pan Am.
