Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time as the second and final pre season test got underway at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya today.
The Gojira driver immediately set a scintilating pace at the very start of the session whilst others seemed to take time to come to terms with the track conditions. Sam Bird was second early on before the first appearance of testing from Fernando Alonso, but even the Spaniard could not match the pace of Hamilton, although he was able to close the gap on his second run before pulling off the circuit with a puncture at the forty minute mark.
Alonso wasnt the only driver to suffer problems with Horizon’s Adrian Sutil pulling off the circuit twice in the first half of the session, with a transmission failure accounting for his second stoppage. The most notable incident occurring 90 minutes into the session when Nico Rosberg attempted a pass into turn one, only to hit Hamilton who was exiting the pits sending both drivers into a spin.
Testing continues tomorrow.
