Hamilton top again as Yoshida and Lee impress

Lewis Hamilton continued his unbroken run at the top of Pre-Season testing today but it was rookies Itsuki Yoshida and Cooper Lee who set tongues wagging in the paddock as the field closed on Gojira on Day 2.

Japanese Yoshida was 2nd quickest in the Shake n Bake before pulling off the track at the end of the session with engine problems, whilst Cooper Lee set the fastest first and second sector times of the session and looked to have taken top spot away from Hamilton for the first time in Pre-Season testing but for traffic in the form of Marcus Ericsson and Alfonso Celis on the final two laps of his run.

Willows pair Alonso and Rosberg ended the day in 4th and 6th place continuing the team’s impressive pace on the harder tyre, whilst Benjamin Pryor was able to split the pair, albeit on the Soft tyres.

Apart from Yoshida the only other mechanical problem came around half way through the session when the Pedersen of Romain Grosjean pulled off with flames trailing the car.
