Michael Pedersen Racing today clinched the 2011 FF1M Teams Championship at Interlagos after a thrilling race.
Pedersen went into the race in third place in the championship, fourteen points behind leaders TornadoF1, with Shake n Bake in second place twelve points behind and from an outsiders point of view this would have been an unlikely turnaround for the Danish team. However, since the summer break Pedersen came into the weekend having won four races in a row after solving the reliability gremlins which plagued their early season form.
Meanwhile, the leaders TornadoF1 had hit on a rough patch of form since lead driver Fernando Alonso won the Belgian Grand Prix in September with the Spaniard scoring only two third places in the final five races as he limped over the finish line to clinch the Drivers Championship at Indianapolis in the last race. In Brasil it all went wrong for the Drivers Champion as a late spin dropped him out of the points allowing Pedersen to overhaul his employers in style.
Shake n Bake meanwhile have endured a horrible time of late, and it was no surprise to see the Honda powered team overhauled by Pedersen with their former championship winning drivers Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg struggling home in thirteenth and eighteenth positions.
