Gojira refugee Nico Hulkenberg has agreed to make a one off appearance for Andrew Racing for the Macau Grand Prix replacing the outgoing Jean-Eric Vergne.
Andrew Racing boss Andrew Pryor was reluctant to let Vergne out of his contract but, having been dropped by the team for 2018, Jean-Eric was not in the mood to show loyalty to the team and potentially ruin his FFeM title chances before they had even begun. Once it became certain that he would be needing a new driver Pryor had only one choice in mind “If anyone, I want Hulk” he said.
Hulkenberg will have sympathy with the Frenchman, himself having been dropped for last week’s Brazilian Grand Prix after enduring one of his toughest seasons in the sport up against incoming charger Alessandro Farina. Nico has therefore been eager to get back into the sport and show his qualities “It was a difficult season to be sure, but not all of it has been on my side, and I want to show that in a fair environment I can still succeed at this level” he said in a statement.
