2014 Belgian Grand Prix winner Nico Hulkenberg will join FJR it emerged today.
The German has spent his entire, five season, FF1M career at Mitchell winning four races and taking seven pole positions in one hundred races up to the German Grand Prix.
However this season, paddock rumours suggested, relations had soured between team boss Joe Mitchell and Hulkenberg after a series of uncompetitive and accident prone showings with the driver quick to criticise the team for a lack of tyre testing.
Nico Hulkenberg said on Friday : “I’ve been looking to take a step forward in my career and with FJR’s manufacturer engine program I hope to be able to do just that”.
Hulkenberg lines up alongside returning FJR driver Kevin Magnussen and such a competitive line up should give FJR team principal James Brickles nowhere to hide if performances do not improve next season.
