Hamilton tops Morning of Engine Manufacturer Test at Monza

Gojira Autosport’s Lewis Hamilton ended the morning session of the 2014 Engine Manufacturer Test at the top of the timesheets as FF1M drivers returned to the track at Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

Hamilton completed 30 laps in the two hour morning session setting a 1m 19.709s benchmark just over a tenth of a second quicker than ShakenBake’s Sebastian Vettel who completed 36 laps, the most of any driver.

Hamilton’s team mate Kamui Kobayashi was 3rd, underlining Gojira’s pace out of the box and completing a further 30 laps for the team whilst compatriot Itsuki Yoshida was a superb 4th, completing 33 laps for the ShakenBake team. The top four times were all set using the blue sidewalled “Hard” tyre compound.

Fernando Alonso was 5th for Willows Ilmor, and was the only driver to run on the red sidewalled “Soft” Pirelli tyres. Whilst team mate Nico Rosberg and Tornado pair Tomas Gonzalez and Jean-Eric Vergne were 6th, 7th and 8th fastest on the yellow marked “Medium” tyres. The FJR pair of Jenson Button and Benjamin Pryor completed the top 10 on “Hard” tyres.

ShakenBake completed the most laps of the morning with 129, ahead of Willows who completed 127 whilst Gojira completed the least with 117.

The Engine Manufacturer test concludes with a further two hour session this afternoon.
