Gonzalez handed lifeline by Exolite

Tornado refugee Tomas Gonzalez has been handed a career lifeline by the Exolite team.

Exolite have endured a torrid silly season having lost both Fernando Alonso and Romain Grosjean to rival teams despite having one of their most competitive seasons in recent times.

The signing of Gonzalez, who currently lies third in the championship is clearly a statement of intent from Exolite team principal James Whitely that he won’t let such disappointments affect his teams chances in 2017.

“Grandad” Gonzalez was let go by Tornado boss Tobias Woff, who coined the nickname, after some poor performances where the Argentine driver seemed to go missing during the race. However, Gonzalez has shown, particularly in his first season, that he is capable of matching drivers like Fernando Alonso for pace on his day and must strive to find consistency in his new surroundings if he’s to make the most of this new beginning.
