LiquiTarget challenger Paul Di Resta made up for disappointment in yesterday’s Feature Race by taking a dominant victory in this morning’s Sprint Race.
Di Resta made a fantastic start from sixth on the grid and was fourth by the first corner and second by the end of the first lap after a daring double overtaking move on Pole-Sitter Oliver Turvey and yesterday’s bad boy Charles Pic at the end of the back straight. The Scot then made it into the lead at the end of the second lap, passing leader Jolyon Palmer into turn one.
Yesterday’s winner Giedo Van der Garde has a frustrating race stuck behind Turvey and had to settle for fourth after spending most of the race staring at the OLM Racing gearbox. Meanwhile the two Spaniel’s continued their spat from the Feature Race, with Bottas and Pic trading places throughout the race with Pic finishing ahead in 5th whilst Bottas settled for the final point in 6th.
After the first weekend of the championship Giedo Van der Garde leads the drivers championship by one point from Paul Di Resta whilst Spaniel’s pair of double points finishes means that they lead the Teams Championship by three points from STV Racing.
