Andrew Racing stay with Climax for another season

Climax today announced that they will continue to supply Andrew Racing in 2018 in a widely expected move.

Climax head of performance Patrizio Mazzini spoke with the Associated Press during the announcement remarking that “based on the Climax’s improved reliability, we’ve been able to aim for a more aggressive development path compared to recent seasons. This, topped with more frequent use of higher engine modes in race trim, has also enabled us to set up the cars more effectively during race weekends. All culminating in an improved package between engine and chassis. All whilst carrying a lower risk of our races ending in an anticlimax. But as seen at Silverstone with Vaino, we are still prone to that. So we can’t get too carried away with enjoying the best of both worlds for the time being.”

Looking to the future Mazzini remarked that “We’ve invested heavily into our engine project for next season. Our priorities going forward into 2018 is maintaining the good balance of performance and reliability we have attained as of now. All whilst piling on that all important extra POWERRR. However, we are quite wary of the prospect of a new engine formula being introduced for 2019. So ultimately, engine development may be slowed over time should that be the case.”

When asked what form he hoped that new engine formula would take he remarked “Bring back V10’s!”
