In Hockenheim today AFIA supremo Ajay Ecclescakes announced an 18 round calendar for 2013, one more than the 17 rounds which had been initially announced on the provisional calendar which was released following the Austrian Grand Prix.
The previous calendar had shown the German Grand Prix’s venue “to be confirmed” but the new calendar now shows Hockenheim retaining the event whilst the Nurburgring, the only other realistic contender as a venue, has been added as the venue for the European Grand Prix which was not part of the previous schedule.
The new European Grand Prix takes the Austrian Grand Prix’s provisional spot in the first weekend of May with the Red Bull Ring race reverting to its June slot prior to the British Grand Prix which had been left empty. The German Grand Prix also has been moved back a week to prevent a grueling triple header for the teams.
The calendar is expected to be ratified by the world fantasy motorsports council in due course.
