Exolite return to FF1M

It has been announced that the Exolite name will be returning to FF1M for the 2013 season.

Team Boss James Whitely was in the paddock at the Hungaroring today to announce the return of one of the founder members of the series.

Exolite last appeared in FF1M during the 2008 season and are perhaps best known for their philosophy of having ‘powerful but unreliable’ cars, having famously lost the 1991 championship due to their Ferrari engines becoming too powerful to handle.

All of their 15 wins came during the Masters era of 1988-1995, with Damon Hill amassing the most with six, and Jacques Villeneuve taking their last win so far at the season opener during the 1995 season. Although they’ve never won a championship, they were perennial frontrunners.

FJR team boss, and FF1M commentator, James Brickles, a good friend of Exolite off-track, welcomed the team’s return. “It’s great to see Exolite back in FF1M because we had some really good battles in past seasons, especially 1991 which remains one of my favourite seasons. Hopefully they will be competitive right from the off.”
