FF2M AP announced for 2012 with 5 Round Calendar

FF2M Asia Pacific, or FF2M AP, will support FF1M testing over five rounds with the final round supporting the 2012 USA GP (West) at Long Beach.

The five date calendar sees the series begin on a three leg tour of the Middle East, with an opening race at the Dubai Autodrome, following the FF1M Pre-Season testing schedule to Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, moving to Malaysia for a standalone round, before its final round at the classic American venue.

AFIA supremo Ajay Ecclestone confirmed that teams will use the same line-up for both the Asia-Pacific and European FF2M seasons although teams will be allowed to change or trade drivers in the break between the two series.

Ecclestone also advised that he expected an “expanded season” when the series returns at the end of 2012, with additional rounds in the Americas and Japan likely and said he was “excited to use the series to explore other circuits that might not normally feature in FF1M”

The news comes a day after team bosses expressed their surprise at Long Beach being announced as the third round of the 2012 FF1M Season.
