FF2M hotshoe Daisuke Sekiya will make his FF1M debut for Willows at the season ending Macau Grand Prix replacing outgoing driver Stoffel Vandoorne.
The news was announced to huge delighted cheers from the assembled crowd at Suzuka today shortly before Sekiya competed in the final FF2M Feature Race of the season, in which he finished in second place after making several outrageous overtaking moves into the Degner corners early on before settling into a rhythm later on in the race behind eventual winner Charles Leclerc.
Willows have confirmed that this will just be a one off race for the Japanese driver, with Sekiya due to return to FF2M next season. Team boss Joseph Willows stated “This will give us a good opportunity to access Daisuke for the future”
