The AFIA have stripped Portimao of its spot on the 2018 FF1M calendar it was announced today.
AFIA bosses were said to be unhappy going into the race with preparations at the Portuguese circuit which were then born fruit in the race when a loose drain cover caused a puncture to Fernando Alonso and led to drivers having to take an avoiding line in turn 2 from midway through yesterdays Grand Prix.
The AFIA have confirmed that the Portuguese Grand Prix will be replaced on the calendar by the European Grand Prix, and that the venue for the race will be announced in due course.
