Pedersen stick with Grosjean

Pedersen have confirmed today they retained the services of their current man-in-form, Romain Grosjean, for 2015.

Grosjean, who came so agonisingly close to winning his first world drivers championship last year has once again been in excellent form during the 2014 campaign. He comfortably and well deservedly raced to victory on two occasions already this season. Firstly at the British GP at Silverstone by a whopping 23 seconds and even more recently, at last weekend’s Austrian GP. The French-Swiss driver currently sits in 6th place in the drivers table but is only 26 points adrift of the championship leader, Lewis Hamilton.

Despite the Danish team comfortably being planted at rock bottom in the standings a year ago, their car has vastly improved over it’s predecessor. Mainly thanks to waving goodbye to its gutless BMW engine that lacked serious development. However, their new Mugen power unit is significantly superior and will have also enabled the team to focus more greatly on the aerodynamic side of things.

Pedersen’s latest announcement isn’t a complete surprise for most of the FF1M paddock given Romain’s heroics this season. However, a couple of insiders have suggested that the reason Grosjean has only been announced as of today, was a disparity in salary demands. One even suggested it was uncertainty over a supply of race weekend baguettes that Romain has been a big fan of. Regardless of this, both parties had to agree a deal sooner rather than later although it will be interesting to see if team and driver can reach new heights from here on.
