Mitchell extends for 17 with Cooper Lee

Mitchell have announced today that Australian driver Cooper Lee will continue with the team into 2017.

Sources within the team confirmed earlier in the month that the Australian, who stunned onlookers with his domination of the Monaco Grand Prix in May, had been involved in some tough negotiations with team principal Joe Mitchell during the summer but those negotiations had reached an impasse. Today’s announcement therefore signals that the two have finally been able to reach an agreement in terms with Mitchell keen to keep his young protégé whilst not wishing to impact aerodynamic development.

In 2017 Lee will once again be joined by Lewis Hamilton at the team who currently leads the drivers championship by thirteen points with five races remaining.
