Vergne continues impressive pace as Engine Manufacturer Test concludes

Jean-Eric Vergne continued his impressive pace of day one to set the fastest time of the second and final day of the 2015 Engine Manufacturer Test at Monza.

The Gojira driver lapped three tenths of a second faster than team-mate Robert Kubica, with 2014 champion Sebastian Vettel a further tenth of a second behind in third. The Gojira team are understandabley cautious however despite topping the time sheets on both days of the opening test with one insider noting that Vettel’s time was set on the Hard compound tyres which can be up to a second slower than the Soft tyres that Vergne was running.

Behind the top three James Clark continued his impressive start to life at Gojira in 4th. Itsuki Yoshida meanwhile was fifth, lapping faster than his much more experienced team mate Kamui Kobayashi who placed sixth.

The fastest Tornado driver was Fernando Alonso who was 8th fastest. The Spaniard was almost a second slower than Vergne but did set the most amount of laps during the session with 49. The top FJR was Kevin Magnussen in 10th. Once again it was Willows who were the slowest team, with Stoffel Vandoorne the fastest Willows in 15th.

The teams will remain in Italy, joining the customer teams in Imola for the first day of open testing next week.
