Juan Pablo Montoya completed a lights to flag victory at Laguna Seca yesterday to claim the 2013 AFIA Indycar Series title in the final race of the season.
The Columbian added three wins from the final five races of the season to an Indy 500 victory earlier in the season in a stunning late season charge for victory.
Montoya’s rivals will meanwhile be wondering how they allowed the Rectory driver to clinch the title with several key errors affecting the late season form of both Will Power and Scott Dixon. Dixon will reflect on a disasterous race from Pole Position at Road America whilst Power suffered a similarly catastrophic race in Mexico City.
