Monolith Racing System have been removed from the results for the Belgian GP after it was confirmed by AFIA scrutineers that the team had exceeded their medium tyre allowance at Spa.
The scrutineers noticed that both Esteban Ocon and Nico Hulkenberg used the Goodyear Medium tyre in both Qualifying and the Race at Spa. The matter was referred to the race stewards who disqualified the team from the event.
This is the second occasion this season that a team has been found to have contravened the tyre rules with GRM also disqualified for a similar infringement at the Canadian GP. Unlike that race however Monoliths Ocon (10th) and Hulkenberg (13th) finished outside the points and therefore the consequences will feel less severe to the Liechtenstein based outfit.
