Tomas Gonzalez will remain with CBA Racing for the 2019 season the team announced today.
Gonzalez will race alongside Vaino Kimminen who controversially replaced the Argentine driver at Tornado towards the end of the 2015 season whilst Gonzalez still had a mathematical chance at the drivers championship. It is understood that Gonzalez is eager to prove himself against the Finn, and whilst he had other offers on the table, ironically from Tornado, he felt he could not run away from the challenge that Kimminen presented.
The move does mean that Mason Taylor is without a drive despite some impressive performances this season, although the team had a race to forget in Monza with Taylor and Gonzalez committing the cardinal sin of team mate contact which ruined both drivers races even before a mechanical issue put Gonzalez out.
