FGT3 loses spot on FF1M support package, FFeM to return

The AFIA announced today that FFeM, the electric powered concept last seen in 2012, will return in 2017 on the FF1M support package replacing the FGT3 tintop series.

The electric series will use a brand new spec chassis, the Levin e-17, designed and built by Levin Motorsport running on Hankook tyres. Teams will choose between two powertrain manufacturers, who will each supply 5 teams each. 10 teams, running 2 cars each will contest the first season. The series will be open to any driver with an S or A level licence.

The resurrected series will make its debut in Bahrain, using the sprint layout of the Sakhir International Circuit the weekend following the forthcoming 2017 FF1M engine test and will feature nine events in its first campaign, including the Monaco ePrix, all taking place in 2017. The series first season is due to conclude with a double header event, the United States ePrix at Watkins Glen, at the end of July. From its second season, the series will operate on a winter cross-year timetable with Macau under consideration as the 2017-18 series opener.
