In Spa today FF2M Asia organisers confirmed that the opening round of the 2015-16 season, which was due to take place at the Sochi Autodrome in Southern Russia, has been cancelled.
“For obvious and anachronistic reasons the series will not race in Russia for the foreseeable future” a spokesman said. “The race will not be replaced.”
Series organisers also confirmed that the rules for driver selection will be changed for the coming season, with teams able to fill their so-called “Mandatory Choice” slot with “rookie drivers from any nationality holding an AFIA A licence” in addition to those drivers from non-traditional motorsport backgrounds who previously satisfied the criteria .
