Kimminen makes shock move to CBA Racing

2017 FF1M Champion Vaino Kimminen will leave Tornado at the end of the season, joining CBA Racing for 2019.

Kimminen, who recently won the Belgian Grand Prix, is said to be relishing the chance to build a team around him at CBA and whilst he appreciated the support he had received from Tornado boss Tobias Wolff over the years he had felt a shift in priorities in the team this season towards rookie driver Charles Leclerc and whilst the Finn and the team had been in discussions over a renewal they could not come to an agreement.

CBA have a history of signing drivers who were part of Tornado’s academy, with Tobias Gonzalez also a member of that organisation and was replaced, mid-season, by Kimminen. It will be interesting if once again the Argentine finds himself replaced by the Finn, especially having had what many consider a positive season with CBA Racing in 2018.
