The FF1M Paddock looked on in stunned silence as GRM announced that Callum Ilott will make the step up to FF1M with the team in 2019.
The Brit, who currently drives for Tildesley in FF2M, has yet to trouble the scorers in the wins column during his 56 FF2M races, scoring just 19 points across 2 and a half seasons, but team boss George Roke has clearly seen something that he likes in the 20 year old Cambridge born driver.
The move means that one or both of GRMs current drivers Valterri Bottas and Sergio Perez will be replaced. The team have had a difficult season and lie 12th in the Constructors Championship with just 3 points. They were disqualified from the Canadian Grand Prix and failed to qualify for the British Grand Prix. Roke is clearly hoping that a dash of fresh blood will re-energise the team in 2019.
