In a continuation of the FF2M roster merry-go-round, former Tildesley GP driver Lance Stroll will return to racing with STV Racing, replacing Benjamin Pryor in the process.
Prior to his initial dismissal, Stroll had been an inconsistent performer with Tildesley, but with two podium finishes at Road America. He also helped Spaniel to another teams championship in the 2016-17 Asia series with two wins late in the season, so STV will be hoping that the Canadian can replicate his good days in order to finish runner up in the teams championship.
The news leaves Welshman Pryor without a drive. He had been with FJR since 2014 and took part in two FF1M races during the 2015 FF1M season where he managed a best finish of 7th at Monza. He gained a reputation as a plucky driver who made good use of the reverse grids with both his wins coming in sprint races, but his inability to match teammate Mason Taylor this season is seen as the main reason for his early exit. This also ends STV’s sponsorship deal with Welsh soap opera Pobol Y Cwm as new sponsorship from Stroll’s father’s company Asprey and Canadian Coffeehouse Tim Horton’s comes in.
