Hartley fastest as FF2M test begins

Danish Racing driver Brendon Hartley set the fastest time at Motorland Aragon this morning as the FF2M field took to the track to test their new machines for the 2012 FF2M Asia Pacific, and 2012 FF2M, seasons.

Hartley was followed closely by Spaniel driver Valtteri Bottas and Robin Frijns in the LiquiTarget who both outperformed their more experienced team mates.

It was a closely fought session with the top seven drivers covered by less than a tenth of a second. Indeed, Hartley’s time of 1m 36.053 seconds was just under seven tenths of a second quicker than the slowest time set by 2011 race winner Giedo Van der Garde in the STV Racing. Van der Garde was one of a number of experienced FF2M drivers who seemed to struggle to get to grips with the new FF2M car with last seasons runner-up Paul Di Resta languishing in 20th position and it will be interesting to see if the older drivers are able to improve their positions in tomorrow’s second session.
