Spaniel Racing have replaced Colton Herta with Pierre Gasly for the rest of the season.
Long time FF2M racer Gasly spent the first half of the year driving in FFeM and has been test driver for FJR this season. Rumours did surface that he would return to FF2M with STV Racing earlier in the season as team boss James Brickles had become irate with the number of mistakes his chargers Lando Norris and Cristobal Alvarez were making and had to be talked down by rival team boss Joseph Willows.
It is understood that Spaniel parent team Tornado had evaluated Gasly for their open FF1M seat for 2019, having been impressed with the Frenchman’s pace in Friday Practice sessions for FJR but, having now decided upon Chuck Bucknum for the seat, they have agreed with FJR for Gasly to be released to drive for Spaniel for the final two FF2M races of 2018.
With FF2M teams allowed to carry over one driver for the following season, it remains to be seen whether Gasly will be kept on by Tornado into 2019.
